Morphology of defects and wear of coated cutting tools

The thesis focuses on the morphology of defects and cause of wear in coat cutting tools, the description of the chip formation and its effects on the machined area. The experiment drala with the description of the chip form in connection with the cutting properties, type of tools, wear in removable parting cutting tips and the comparison of cutting tips from two leading manufacturers.
Testing of cutting tools coated with nano-crystalline composites

The thesis is focused on the characteristic of coating methods and their division, on the morphology of defects and cause of wear in coated cutting tools of sintered carbides. The experimental part is focused on a comparing cutting performance testing of indexable cutting inserts coated with nanocrystaline composite TiAlSiN at the longitudinal turning.

The thesis deals with the coating of cutting tools. It summarizes the types of material used to create cutting tools, the characteristics of the main coating methods, the way tools are treated before coating and methods of testing the physical properties of coatings. The practical part contains the description of coating deposition on interchangeable cutting blades, where two types of coating were tested (SHM1 and SHM2). Furthermore, their mechanical and physical properties were tested. The analyzes used were adhesion and cohesion tests, coating thickness and hardness along with the chemichal composition.

The bachelor thesis titled Coating methods for cutting tools describes techniques of deposition of hard abrasion resistant coatings by physical and chemical methods. The thesis contains the partition of the materials for cutting tools, description of producing cutting inserts made from sintered carbides, basic types of coating layers and comparison of coated sintered carbides in the assortment of selected manufacturers.
